We Work Together
At Arieli Foundation for Maternal and Child health it’s all about making life better for mother and child, reducing health risks concerning childbirth and ensuring basic resources are available in communities by providing quality skilled care personnel, materials and facilities.
The Visioner
Arieli foundation was founded by Dr. Natasha .C. Oyibo. Upon completion of her PhD, she discovered that in order for health interventions to be successful, it is necessary to consistently develop innovative and inclusive solutions to encourage stakeholder’s inclusion in decision-making, regardless of their language, demographics and age. Her doctorate research focused on understanding stakeholder’s mental models, to tease out underlying reasons of why and how decisions are made. This was considered an important step in bridging the information and communication gaps for efficient results.
On a personal note, becoming a mother of two has been a life transforming experience for her in so many ways. This has further motivated her to fight for the well-being of mothers and children. She believes that with the wealth of knowledge and experience she has gained over time, in collaboration with various committed stakeholders, the lives and stories of every woman, infant and child would be exceptionally improved.
The Issue
Approximately 287,000 women die around the world from complications of pregnancy and child birth, every year. That is 1 woman every 2 minutes.
99% of maternal deaths happen in the developing world and nearly 60% of global maternal deaths happen in just 10 countries, of which, Nigeria is one of these countries.
